The way the world has changed not many stay in the same community where they were born. Being away from the family and friends you grew up with means you have to look for new friends for support.
The internet has been a wonderful way to connect like-minded people who would never have met ordinarily. I think it's a great way to learn about yourself, because you attract facets of your personality, and instead of just dismissing those who show a side you don't get on with - let it be a learning opportunity before you let them go.
When you find good friends online they can become as close as anyone you knew as a child. Letting yourself open up to a 'stranger' is a great lesson in trust, and the more you're able to trust, the more you're able to share love back. The video below shows some remarkable, and unusual, friendships.
