The blog FutureMedica has listed 17 health benefits of owning a cat. These include reducing stress and anxiety, to lowering the risk of a heart attack. The Digital Journal reported that two cats have been adopted to help relieve the stress of inmates in Lincoln County Jail, to assist in their rehabilitation. A favourite cat was one I reared after it was abandoned as a kitten. Smokey was very quick to learn, and really well behaved. After the first few nights to settle in, she soon got used to her basket in the kitchen. But when I broke my foot in a car accident, Smokey came to bed with me every night until the cast came off after 6 weeks. She would wait on the bannister, and jump on to my shoulder as I struggled up the stairs on my crutches. Even with the plaster cast on, my foot was too painful to walk on, so I had to hop everywhere. One day when I was going to visit my parents, I hadn't managed to shut Smokey inside, and she followed along a wall until she could land on my shoulder. She did make me laugh, and I still don't know how she clung on as I hopped and hobbled along the path!I've found cats come into your life when you need them most, and to me, there's no question that they reduce stress, and improve the quality of your days. The first breathing exercise to listen to is the stress buster, which expels all your pent up stress and tension in seconds. You literally copy the cat, and allow your tongue to hang out of your mouth . . . making it one to experience in private! Use this quick and easy exercise whenever you feel tension starting to build up. It's very effective, and it prevents you from letting stress get on top of you so you explode. It's always better to look silly than it is to get angry! The second simple breathing exercise is the stress release. If you observe cats, you will see them constantly stretching. Follow their example as you gently combine slow, deep breathing with the release of tension in your neck and shoulders. This is where you become stiff when you sit in one position, such as on the computer, and your muscles become tight. Unless you relieve them regularly, you will find yourself suffering from increasing amounts of pain. After thousands of years of knowledge from yoga masters, scientists now also have evidence that learning how to breathe correctly can improve everything from panic attacks to hypertension to chronic pulmonary obstruction. A heart attack is caused by an acute circulation blockage depriving the heart of oxygen. When this happens in the brain it results in a stroke. When there is a part of your life that you don't feel happy about, just repeating positive statements will have no effect. Unless you have supreme self confidence, it's unlikely that you can look in a mirror and state how much you love all of you.
All that happens is you zoom in on your perceived faults, and you will make yourself feel even worse. When you don't connect with the affirmations, they have no meaning for you - and they're simply empty words. If you don't feel confident - you don't even like yourself - and the idea of loving yourself is as far removed as the moon.
You have to have a specific mindset in order to be able to succeed at changing something about yourself that you're not happy with. No matter how unhappy you are, you know that it's difficult to imagine how you can reach your goal, so it can seem easier to stay where you are . . . but you don't stay where you are. You become increasingly more frustrated, and more unhappy, as you feel life slipping by without you fulfilling the dreams locked inside you.
LACK OF CONFIDENCE ISN'T JUST A BAD HAIR DAY
Lack of confidence is not simply feeling unsure about whether a style of dress suits you - it's not even going into a dress shop - because you don't feel you deserve something special. Low self-esteem is when you say you want to lose weight, but after putting more weight back on after each failed dieting attempt, you can't even imagine yourself looking slim in a gorgeous outfit.
The source of having no self-confidence lies with your family. From any form of abuse, to being told that it's not good to get 'above yourself', or 'nobody likes someone who's conceited'; when you're always put down, and never praised - you feel worthless.
You're supposed to be able to depend on your family for support, but when they don't provide it, you lack faith and trust in all your future relationships. April is stress awareness month in the US. You need to find stress management techniques that suit you, so that you can monitor your stress levels. When they become out of control, the effects of stress will be experienced in your body, mood, and behaviour, as shown in the table below.
My view is that when you're feeling stressed, with your mind in turmoil, the last thing you can tolerate is any more complications. That's why Z Point is ideal for any stress you're under, because it is such a simple and undemanding process.
You don't have to learn anything new, or remember anything apart from a short cue word. By repeating your cue word over and over, like a mantra, you will gradually feel your stress fade away, as the Z Point practitioner delivers clearing statements which communicate directly with your subconscious to release the source of your stress.

You might think, "But of course I want to lose weight, why on earth would I choose not to?". If you are not losing weight steadily every week - then you have chosen not to. Everything is a choice - from deciding what you will eat for breakfast, to whether you will take healthy snacks out with you, or dive into the nearest fast food place instead. Making the right choices for the right outcomes takes planning. Just using weight loss as an example, if you wander into a supermarket without a shopping list, and allow yourself to be tempted by the fresh smells in the bakery, or the offers on chocolate that are placed within easy reach ... then you are never going to lose weight. If you really do want to lose weight, then you would make better choices. You would shop online so that the scents and sights don't distract you. This means you will always have food in the cupboard that supports your new choice to lose weight. Now you have done the planning, and taken responsibility for what is in your cupboards, your fridge, and your freezer - you will lose weight. If you say you 'had' to have biscuits - ask yourself how they got into your house? Eliminate all temptation and all excuses, and get into your new healthy habits. Are you choosing what you really want, or are you choosing to stay exactly as you are now? Know that you make that choice every minute of every day. If you don't really want to lose weight because it takes long term commitment - then save your energy for what you really do want.
