Be as kind to yourself as you are to others, and you will gradually learn to stop being critical, and accept yourself just as you are.
It's also important for your own self-esteem to give yourself care and attention. Have regular pampering sessions, even if it's just for an hour at home. You can make them fun with a group of friends over a glass of wine.
Once you get into the habit of treating yourself well, you will notice those around you will start treating you with the respect you deserve. Your behaviour is always reflected back at you.
If you act like a doormat you will get walked all over. It's especially important if you have children to set a good example. It's far more beneficial for them to see happy and fulfilled parents, rather than miserable, moaning martyrs. Nobody is going to pat you on the back for depriving yourself of enjoyment.
It's easy to get stuck in a rut, and just acknowledging that is the first step to change. Be open to experimenting with new styles - from hair to clothes. Arranging an evening where everyone brings old clothes they're bored with, to swap for something different, is a great way to update your wardrobe for free. You can agree on a charity you all support to take any remaining items to afterwards.
Find time for yourself where you can close the bathroom door, sink into a scented bubble bath, and read an escapist novel. Turn a corner of your bedroom into a peaceful haven with candles, where you can listen to relaxing music in comfort.
You will find switching off from your daily routine, even for half an hour, will restore you and give you more enthusiasm for life - and that's always infectious.
If old beliefs are blocking you from feeling able to treat yourself, then the ZPoint Process can clear them easily, and free you to see how feeling happy is nothing less than essential.
Grant Connolly's Online Training Course starts next week - have a look and see how ZPoint can transform your life too.
