- Bring to mind a memory of when someone hurt you very deeply. Create the exact picture of everything around you as you experienced the pain (physical or emotional).
- Remember a time when you were completely happy. It might be when you won a prize, or achieved a hard won goal. You felt safe, loved, and confident.
Compare the difference between those two memories. You will feel sad thinking about how badly you were treated, and it will drag your mood down. As soon as you focus on a time where everything felt good, and you knew you were loved and successful, you will lift your spirits again.
