It doesn't matter what that step is.
It might be something that has turned up unexpectedly, and you have to make a decision about how to deal with it.
It might be a long-held dream, and you're nervous of reaching out for it.
Whatever the next step is - the outcome is unknown, and inside you feel like the young girl above - lost, and alone in a dark forest. It's okay to feel like a child again - being an adult, who's supposed to have all the answers, all of the time, can be draining.
You're not weak if you admit you feel frightened, and you're not sure what to do next. Spend time being kind to yourself - and do nothing else.
Don't try to look for solutions.
Don't compare yourself to others who are where you want to be.
Simply allow yourself the space to acknowledge how you feel. This might be a candle-lit bubble bath with a glass of wine, listening to your favorite music, or a walk in the park. Whatever works for you to relax, and clear your mind of the future. Stay in the present, and comfort yourself, and reassure the anxious child inside you. However you feel - it's okay.
Nobody can say with 100% certainty where the next step will take them. When you accept that, you take the pressure off yourself. Worrying about the future never achieves anything. All it does is make you feel bad - and you wouldn't choose to do that.
Focus on making yourself feel good - treat yourself to your favorite chocolate, or cake (or both!) - and enjoy every mouthful without a hint of guilt. That's another wasted emotion. When you care about how you feel, and you enjoy treating yourself - you will feel better. There's no sense in spoiling yourself if you have to suffer from guilt afterwards.
Know, and believe, you deserve to feel good - and feeling good in every present moment is how you get over your fear of taking the next step.
It's only when your mind is relaxed that you can make the right choices for your future. And when you take it one step at a time, you will gradually build up the courage to feel like the little girl below. She hasn't got a care in the world. She's confident, and enjoying every minute of doing what she loves.
Life is supposed to be fun - so get out your purple tutu - and enjoy the dance of life!
Sunday is the day to remember all the times that your dad guided your next step. Take the time to thank him, and show how much you love and appreciate him.

"What a great gift for a father on Father's Day or any other, for that matter. This is a collection of great quotes about what it means to be a father, some by famous people, and famous poems, several by Edgar Guest, who was among the most eloquent of poets in another era.
All of these are combined with charming photographs meant to reflect the passion of the written words. As Ansel Adams once said, "When words become unclear, I shall focus with photographs. When images become unclear, I will be content with silence." " - Lee W. Reed
