It's understandable that you don't want to re-live the intensity of painful experiences, but they don't go away by themselves. Even if you think you can ignore them or forget them - you can't.
They remain with you every second of every day, waiting to appear in your life whenever you activate a trigger which reminds you of the past events.
Pain comes in many forms, both physical and mental, and they can all be eased by facing up to them. You will feel much better knowing that you can take control over how you feel. Changing how you feel is how you know for sure that you've made a difference. Just listening to positive statements won't affect you unless you're already feeling receptive.
The Hawaiian practice of "ho'oponopono" - repeating "I'm sorry, Please forgive me, Thank you, I love you" - heals through forgiveness. This is an ideal to aim for, but when you're in the middle of hurt, it can be an impossible leap, and it takes time for you to believe in it for yourself.
That is where the ZPoint Process can bridge the gap, because it relaxes you in minutes, and allows you to let go of strong emotions effortlessly.
I've always enjoyed breathing exercises because they're effective very quickly, and I've just found one called "Tonglen". It means sending and taking in Tibetan. It's a beautifully simple approach, which also brings peace and balance, but it's an extremely powerful way to take you out of denial, where you try to avoid suffering.
Start by thinking of someone you know who is in pain. Focus on absorbing all their pain as you breathe in. Expand your chest and heart, and imagine your heart dissolving everything, and you send back all your love as you breathe out.
You can visualize the pain entering as black smoke, then dissolving into healing green, and leaving your heart as a cloud of pink, the colour of love.
You can use this same method to heal painful issues of your own, and you will find yourself feeling very peaceful and loving.
A breathing exercise is appropriate for Mother's Day, which is celebrated in America on Sunday, because you have your mother to thank for giving you your first breath.
"It is possible to experience an awakening in this life through realising just how precious each moment, each mental process, and each breath truly is." ~ Christy Turlington
"All the principles of heaven and earth are living inside you. Life itself is truth, and this will never change. Everything in heaven and earth breathes. Breath is the thread that ties creation together." ~ Morihei Ueshiba
