Last year I took on the challenge of learning how to format and publish a Kindle on Amazon, and I got back in touch with my love of taking, and editing, photographs to compile the "Quotes of Love Series".
I used to have an antiques shop, and I always loved delicate pieces of ephemera - it was amazing how they survived, so I was delighted to find a collection of gorgeous old Valentine's cards online, (including the one on the left). They were copyright-free to share, which inspired me to create another Kindle.
Except, I only decided the week before Valentine's Day that I wanted to do this, and Amazon need time to publish it, and it had to be ready to give away free this weekend. I told myself that I could manage to add a quote or a short poem to each one, so I started the project . . .
32 hours later, with only 4 hours sleep, I'd found not only lots of quotes and poetry, I'd found interesting myths, fables, and forgotten folklore around Saint Valentine's Day. I was so absorbed that one thing led to another, and I was amazed to find the book came to around 70 pages by the time it was published.
It proved to me that when I find something I really love doing - I'm capable of more than I thought, and that it's worth setting myself new challenges, because the surprising results are so satisfying.
If you have doubts that you can do something new - I'm here to say, if it's a subject that you're passionate about, then you can do it! Don't let anything stop you from having a go - even sleep or making meals :)
I didn't know if I could finish the Kindle in time, but I knew I wouldn't be happy if I didn't at least try, and the lovely reviews I've had have exceeded anything I imagined possible. I hope you enjoy the book for free this weekend - and I would love your reviews - they mean a lot.
Get in touch if you want to let go of anything that is holding you back from stepping into your possibilities. It feels amazing to know that when you are in touch with what feels right for you - then nothing is impossible.
