The relationship you have with yourself is the most important one you will ever have, and it needs to be nurtured above everything else.
Every day is an opportunity to love yourself more.
Start by being kind to yourself.
Pay attention to your thoughts, and change any that are negative and critical. Tell yourself you're doing the best you can, and you're on your way to improving any area you want to change.
You can accept anything you'd like to change without hating it. Ban the word 'hate' completely, and you will lose the horrible feelings you create when you judge yourself harshly.
When you accept this is how things are at present, you can learn to love all of you, exactly as you are right now. You will feel much better about yourself, instead of feeling 'less than perfect' when you focus on what you want to improve.
You've spent enough time saying what you don't like about yourself, now it's time to only put your attention on what you do like.
A friend told me how her overweight sister became happy with her size when she began to dress to enhance the one part of her body she liked - her beautiful shoulders. She was able to go out with her friends, and feel good, instead of beating herself up about how she looked and making herself miserable.
You can definitely find more than one thing to love about yourself - you have lots of great qualities and gifts. Remind yourself of these whenever subconscious thoughts creep up on you. This takes lots of practice, because they rule 95% of your thoughts, and they've been getting away with feeding you false information for years.
The more often you combat negative thoughts with listing all the things you like, the more you will appreciate how much you love yourself.

I've been researching Rumi's quotes and poems, and he has one to suit every thought and feeling. In his search for truth he followed 'The Path of Love', and I would say this is the best way to enjoy your journey. After filling myself up with love, I created some printable posters on Etsy so everyone can have more love in their lives:
"Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it." ~ Rumi
bitter things become sweet.
bits of copper turn into gold.
dregs taste like pure wine.
pains are healed.
"When you seek Love with all your Heart, you shall find its echoes in the universe." ~ Rumi
"In the silence of love you will find the spark of life." ~ Rumi
