Feeling and sharing gratitude is such an important emotion that the Greater Good Science Center at the University of California, Berkeley and the University of California, Davis launched a $5.6 million, 3-year project, Expanding the Science and Practice of Gratitude.
Scientists who researched the effects of gratitude found that people who practice gratitude consistently report these benefits:
- Stronger immune systems and lower blood pressure;
- Higher levels of positive emotions;
- More joy, optimism, and happiness;
- Acting with more generosity and compassion;
- Feeling less lonely and isolated.
So learning how to say thank you as a child has a far greater reach than just being polite. When you look for things to be grateful for, you expand your awareness of all the goodness in the world. This takes your focus away from your present circumstances which might not be as you want them to be.
The more you direct your thoughts away from what you're not happy with, the more you feel positive, and that is how you create a future that brings you more to be grateful for.
As I've been writing, you can find everything you need inside of yourself, and appreciating yourself is another important habit to build up. Esther Hicks says in the quote below - don't be dependent on others to thank you.
You are responsible for your own emotions, and when you connect to your inner guidance system, you can tap into the good feelings of love and appreciation that are always with you.
Relaxing, and feeling the benefits of meditation effortlessly, allows you to experience the real you - and that real you is full of joy and excitement for the future.
Please get in touch if you want to feel your true inner sense of gratitude for all that you are, right now, and tap into the source of happiness that never goes away, whatever happens. I can remind you how good it feels.
“While it does, and should, feel good to be appreciated by another person, if you are dependent upon their appreciation to feel good, you will not be able to consistently feel good, because no other person has the ability, or a responsibility, to hold you as their singular, positive object of attention.
Your Inner Being, however, the Source within you, always holds you, with no exceptions, as a constant object of appreciation. So if you will tune your thoughts and actions to that consistent Vibration of Well-Being flowing forth from your Inner Being—you will thrive under any and all conditions.” ~ Esther Hicks
“In the vibration of appreciation all things come to you. You don't have to make anything happen. From what you are living, amplify the things you appreciate so that it's the dominate vibration you are offering and then only those things that are a vibrational match to that can come to you. Then sit back and know, "You ain't seen nothing yet!!!” ~ Esther Hicks
