This means a lot of your habits are not of your choosing, but they still decide everything you do, whether you are aware of it or not. If you feel stuck but don't understand why, when you're trying really hard to change, think about how your parents talk about that subject.
It doesn't matter that now you know differently, the belief is still fixed in your subconscious, and that rules your behaviour. You can say as many positive affirmations as you like, but until you address your old beliefs, they will have absolutely no effect.
